FAQ

Calculator, answered

What the instant quote covers and where we price by hand.

Which file formats does the calculator accept?
STL, OBJ, STEP, and STP. Files are uploaded directly to our object storage and sliced server-side — no model data is retained beyond the quote session.
Why are only PLA and PETG available in the calculator?
PLA and PETG are the two materials wired into our automated slicer profile registry today. Every other supported FDM material — ABS, ASA, PC, ABS-GF, ABS-FR, TPU, and PA12 — runs on the same farm but is quoted manually after a brief DFM review. Use the contact form for those.
How accurate is the instant price?
The calculator runs your geometry through the same slicer and pricing formula we use to bill production: material weight × material rate, plus labor at €50/h, plus machine time at €1/h. The number you see is the number we charge — no surprise add-ons.
What infill, wall count, and nozzle should I pick?
Defaults (15% infill, 2 walls, 0.4 mm nozzle) work for most prototyping and visual parts. Increase infill and walls for load-bearing parts; switch to 0.6 or 0.8 mm nozzles for fast turnaround on larger geometry where surface detail matters less.
Does the calculator account for supports and post-processing?
Supports yes — toggle the support setting and the slicer will add support material to the price. Post-processing (sanding, threaded inserts, painting, assembly) is quoted separately because labor cost varies by request. The calculator covers the printed part only.
